National Geographic – Europe from Above

During the autumn months of 2023 in our Plitvice Lakes National Park we have been communicating with the National Geographic`s producer for filming the episode Balkans in the 6^th season of series “Europe from above”. Colleagues from the Conservation Service together with the cameramen waited for the right moment of autumnal colours so that the frames from the Plitvice lakes could be special and present all the beauty of the lakes and landscape. In the presented episode, the viewers witnessed remarkable beauty of the Plitvice lakes and got the information about the process which is extremely important for freshwater ecosystem – the process of tufa barriers creation that consequently formed this protected area. Conservation Service regularly conducts different monitoring activities, which also include monitoring of water quality at springs, streams and lakes, and one of these moments of sampling was filmed and presented in the aforementioned episode.
