Siberian ligularia in the Plitvice Lakes National Park

Urednik Projects

The Siberian ligularia (Ligularia sibirica) is a plant that flowers in August and September. This is a species that prefers colder microclimate and it grows in wetlands. The southernmost habitat of this species is in Croatia, in the Plitvice Lakes National Park. The Park area is in fact the only habitat of this species found in Croatia.

The employees of the Park’s expert service have been monitoring this species for years in order to identify potential threats and be able to react in time.

This is a globally critically endangered species. It is a target Natura 2000 species for the area of the Plitvice Lakes National Park.
