Improvements in 2025 based on visitor feedback

Urednik Blog, News, Sustainability

During 2024, visitors to the Plitvice Lakes National Park and some of its hospitality facilities had the opportunity to participate in surveys that examined their satisfaction with the visit and services. The responses provided the Welcoming, Guided Tours, Information, Visitor Transportation and Internal Transport Service and Hotels and Restaurants Branch with better insight into the needs and expectations of guests. At the end of 2025, we bring you an overview of the improvements we implemented during the year, which resulted from long-term planning and identified opportunities for improvement based on visitor feedback.

Faster and easier ticket purchase

In March 2025, ticket machines were installed at Entrances 1 and 2 to the national park – devices that enable faster and easier on-site ticket purchasees for the same or following day, as well as relieving the cash desks and reducing queues at the entrances. The reactions to this iniciative have been excellent, and in the future we intend to enable purchases of group tickets, which, through digitalization, will allow faster service, greter flexibility, and easier management of a large number of visitors.

Security of visit planning with a web-shop surcharge

Given the number of inquiries from visitors who decided to change or cancel their appointment at the last minute, from July 2025, Park visitors are able to purchase tickets with the option of changing or canceling their appointment for a surcharge of 5.00 euros. In this way, visitors will have a sense of security in case their circumstances change during their trip.

Introduction of specialized cameras for counting exits from the Park

Although various system upgrades and activities have been used for several years to reduce the pressure of a large number of visitors on the Park’s lake zone, this is a continuous process in which new opportunities for improvements arise over time. New specialized cameras, which are fully compliant with GDPR, will be used to count guest exits from the Park. This approach allows more accurate monitoring of the number of visitors in the system, open and close additional appointments in a timely manner, a better quality visitor experience and partly reduce pressure on nature and the environment.

A visit adapted to people with hearing impairments

The “Nature for All in Sign Language” project, which Plitvice Lakes National Park joined in 2024, was implemented during 2025 with the aim of enabling access to information for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors. QR codes and video materials in Croatian and international sign language were placed throughout the Park in the form of stickers and built into the Park’s mobile application.

Improved Park mobile application

During 2025, the existing Plitvice Lakes National Park mobile application was upgraded, allowing tickets for the Park to be purchased directly through the app. The content was expanded, and the application now enagles users to follow all important notifications.

Fast charging stations for mobile phones

It is increasingly common to need a mobile phone charger these days, and Plitvice Lakes National Park has responded to this by installing fast charging stations for mobile phones. These fast charging stations (35 W) were installed at the end of 2025 at two locations: the information office at Entrance 1 and at the auxiliary Entrance 2 – Flora. Each charging station has 16 compartments with easy access via a personal password, and the service is free for all visitors.

A new generation of electric boats

In response to visitor suggestions to increase the number of boats and reduce waiting times at the boat docks in the Park, all necessary documentation was prepared in 2025 to increase fleet capacity. Three modern electric boats with solar panels on the roofs are currently under construction, designed to make maximum use of clean energy and reduce negative impact on the environment.

Air conditioning installed at Jezero Hotel

In 2025, modern air conditioning was installed in the rooms of Jezero Hotel, the largest hotel in the Plitvice Lakes National Park, to ensure a more comfortable stay for guests. Although the hotel is located in the greenery of the national park, just a 5-minute walk from the largest Plitvice lake, Kozjak, the increasing summer heat and temperature fluctuations throughout the year have led to a growing need for air conditioning.  We believe that many guests of Jezero Hotel will be satisfied with this improvement in hotel service during their next stay.

Culinary education at the Kul In Culinary Institute

In March 2025, chefs from various catering facilities within Plitvice Lakes National Park attended culinary education at the Kul In Culinary Institute. This oldest private culinary school in the region has received numerous awards for its work and cooperates with more than 60 restaurants and hotels from over 50 countries. Participants had the opportunity to improve their culinary techniques in the preparation of à la carte dishes and exchange experiences with leading professionals in the field. This improvement directly contributes to the creation of higher- quality dishes and greater guest satisfaction with the Park’s gastronomic offer.

The Park’s visitor survey continued in 2025, demonstrating that there is always room for improvement. As we continue to monitor our visitors’ feedback, we look forward to new results and hope that the implemented improvements will contribute to an even better visitor experience in the coming year.
