Plitvice Lakes National Park is pleased to announce its collaboration with one of the world’s leading travel platforms, GetYourGuide.
Plitvice Lakes National Park, a jewel of Croatia’s natural heritage, introduced in 2019 an online ticket sales system as part of the Visitor Management Action Plan, to ensure that visits do not impair the values of the Park as well as enabling visitors to enjoy an effortless and complete experience, thus presenting the preserved world heritage in the best possible way, generating revenue needed for its preservation, building public support for the cause of nature conservation, and opening up opportunities for the sustainable development of the local community.
For this reason, a system was developed which enables the purchase of a limited number of tickets per hour and entrance, more affordable afternoon ticket prices during the season, as well as more affordable ticket prices in the off-season. This resulted in stable visitor numbers with extremely high visitor satisfaction, which is best evidenced by excellent ratings on numerous platforms.
Further improvement of the visitor experience
This year, the Plitvice Lakes National Park is taking a step further in improving the visitor experience by entering into a new partnership and enabling the purchase of tickets on the GetYourGuide platform. Since there are numerous conditions that need to be met in order for the National Park’s ticket sales system to be able to operate, the integration project involved numerous partners who worked together on enabling this connection. The aim of this collaboration is to raise the awareness of travelers about the importance of planning trips in advance and purchasing tickets online. The planning plays a key role in determining the duration of a visitor’s stay, and such platforms help to present the rich offer of the Plitvice Lakes National Park and its surroundings in time.
One of the goals of this collaboration is the creation of new tourism products in the Plitvice Lakes National Park.
