At the end of 2023, the MOSI project — ‘Enhancement of the System for the Utilisation of Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the Field of Mobility’ — was implemented, its main purpose being to grant rights to persons with disabilities faster and more easily. As part of this project, an IT system for granting benefits was created, and on the website, all EU providers of benefits for all holders of the European Disability Card, including Plitvice Lakes National Park, were published.

Below are the benefits that persons with disabilities are granted during their visit to Plitvice Lakes National Park.

  • All persons with a degree of disability of over 50% are granted free entry to the Park upon presenting the appropriate ID card.
  • Although the terrain in the lake zone, with an altitude difference of 134 m between the first and last lake in the zone, is not suitable for persons with disabilities, they are still able to visit certain locations in the Park. We recommend arriving at Entrance 1, where a mere 100 m lies between the entrance and a beautiful scenic viewpoint offering a view of the Great Waterfall and Sastavci. Arriving at Entrance 2, following the path passing by Bellevue Hotel to the Flora auxiliary entrance, and then taking the access road to Kupalište Bistro, persons with disabilities are able to reach the P1 boat dock and take an electric boat ride on Kozjak Lake. Passenger areas to accommodate persons with disabilities are provided on the electric boat, and the Park staff is always at your service when boarding.
  • At Jezero Hotel in Plitvice Lakes National Park, several accommodation units are adapted for persons with disabilities. Also, the hotel has a car park, adapted access way and elevators, all for easier mobility of persons with disabilities.
  • The Lička Kuća restaurant, Borje restaurant, Korana restaurant, Vučnica pizzeria and Slap Buffet are all establishments at the Park that provide access for persons with disabilities.
  • In all the car parks at the Park, parking spaces are marked with the accessibility symbol for persons with disabilities.

Despite the many limitations imposed by the terrain, the management of Plitvice Lakes National Park strives to expand the possibilities for persons with disabilities to visit us in the future. It is the responsibility of all of us to do as much as we can to make it easier for persons with disabilities, who teach us valuable lessons on overcoming numerous challenges, to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park.
