If your planning a trip to the Plitvice Lakes National Park in your electric car, as of this spring you are welcome to charge it at three different locations in the Park.
A total of 13 charging stations with 14 charging points, of which 12 22kW AC Wallbox stations and one 50kW AC/DC station, were installed at Entrance 1, in front of the Jezero Hotel and in front of the Borje restaurant. This is the result of cooperation between the Plitvice Lakes National Park and Hrvatska elektroprivreda or HEP, the national energy company, which was initiated to support the development of electromobility and sustainable energy. In 2014, through its eMobilnost development project, HEP started developing a chain of publicly available EV charging stations called ELEN, which means that they are available to locals, visitors, hotel guests, and all other drivers-by who might need to charge their electric vehicles in the Plitvice Lakes National Park.
This initiative is fully in line with the Regulation 2014/94/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council which supports sustainable transport and the deployment of a continued network of alternative fuels infrastructure in the EU.
The construction of an EV charging infrastructure in the area of the Plitvice Lakes National Park is the next logical step in developing sustainable practices for reducing the negative impact of transport on this protected natural area.
