We have the honor to introduce to you an exceptional cultural and artistic association that, through its heritage, dedication, and commitment, preserves the rich tradition and cultural heritage of our region.
The Cultural and Arts Association “Graničar Cvitović” holds a special place as the oldest folklore association in the Slunj area, tracing its roots back to 1939 when it was founded as a branch of the cultural and educational association “Seljačka sloga”. Its presence and activities span decades, despite periods of shorter inactivity and name changes, with the latest name “Graničar” adopted in 1972. This association takes pride in a series of remarkable performances and participation in fairs throughout its rich history. Notable among these are appearances at traditional folklore festivals such as „Vinkovačke jeseni“ and „Đakovački vezovi“, as well as participation in the International Folklore Fair in Zagreb. In recent years, they have had the honor of performing at the Advent in Zagreb and participating in numerous other fairs, both at the national and international levels.
Today, “Graničar Cvitović” counts around 30 active members spanning various age groups, divided into tamburica (string instrument) ensembles, dance groups, as well as male and female vocal groups. Their dedication to preserving folk costumes, customs, traditional secular and church chants, as well as songs and dances from the Cvitović parish, attests to their passionate connection with cultural heritage.
This year’s performance of the Cultural Artistic Society “Graničar Cvitović” as part of the Summer of Cultural Heritage will take place on August 24, 2023, at Campsite Korana, starting at 6:30 PM. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the rich folk tradition of this region.
