Plitvice Lakes National Park constantly works on preserving biodiversity. Since young people are the ones to whom a love for the preservation of nature and its biodiversity needs to be instilled, the Park constantly encourages this.

This year, three primary schools (Korenica, Rakovica, Saborsko) located in the vicinity of the National Park, were included for this purpose. With a short lecture, to the students of each of these schools seedlings of very rare forest fruit trees, namely whitebeam (Sorbus aria) and Chequer tree/ Checker tree (Sorbus torminalis) were donated, and then planted in their school gardens.
