On Thursday, March 14, we hosted a group of 24 high school students, their teachers, and university students who are participating in the Erasmus+ project „Empowering Digital Literacy for Tomorrow“. Project connects high school and university students from Germany (coordinators), Lithuania, Türkiye and Croatia.

The students enlisted their visit to Plitvice Lakes National Park in their itinerary with an organization of mr.sc. Edita Klobučar professor from the Gospić High school, among many other activities since their arrival in Lika-Senj County and Gospić, and for which we are very grateful.

In the Scientific-research Centre Ivo Pevalek employees of the Nature Conservation Service held two presentations in English, first one as an introductory presentation about general natural and cultural values of the national park, and second, with the accent on use of different technologies in monitoring and researches in the Park highlighting the GIS tools, monitoring of large carnivores, and other technologies that we use for nature conservation and visitor management.

Walk in the National park left an impression on our visitors; clear turquois lakes, active waterfalls with abundance of water, and ride with an electric boat, enabled students to experience natural values, which perhaps they don`t have in their own countries. Of course, students from Croatia have visited Plitvice lakes couple of times by now, while few foreign students expressed their desire to visit the National park in some other season.
