World Tourism Day, celebrated on September 27, is observed globally, including in Croatia. This date marks a pivotal moment for tourism as it coincides with the adoption of the Statutes of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 1970. Each year, World Tourism Day features a specific theme that reflects the global challenges and goals of the tourism sector, and this year’s theme, ‘Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,’ carries special significance.
This year, Plitvice Lakes National Park is joining the celebration of World Tourism Day with a series of events and activities at Entrance 1. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy free guided tours in multiple languages, interact with our mascot Medo, receive informative materials from our presenters, and sample local products such as Lika cheese, bacon, fritters, brandy and a performance by the “Graničar Cvitović” Cultural and Artistic Association.
