We present to you the Folklore Ensemble Ivan Mažuranić Karlovac, founded in 1999 with the aim of bringing together children and adults to preserve the cultural heritage of the Croatian people. Their passion lies in nurturing folk customs, songs, and dances that form the essence of a rich tradition.
The ensemble consists of approximately 60 adult members and proudly participates in almost all major public events in the city of Karlovac. They regularly take part in events organized by the city of Karlovac and the Cultural Artistic Association of Karlovac County. They have also had the honor of representing Croatia at international festivals throughout Europe, including Sicily, Hungary, and Poland. One particularly successful performance was in the Czech Republic, where they won second place for costumes and music, and first place for stage performance. Last year, based on the recommendation of the Croatian Parliament of Culture, they proudly represented our country in Turkey.
The adult group of the ensemble performs songs and dances from various regions of Croatia, choreographed by eminent Croatian choreographers and ethnomusicologists. Each performance is an opportunity for them to showcase the richness of Croatian traditional culture and proudly share their love for folklore heritage.
This year, the performance of the Folklore Ensemble Ivan Mažuranić, as part of the Cultural Heritage Summer, will take place on September 9, 2023, at Entrance 1 in the Plitvice Lakes National Park, starting at 4 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the rich folk tradition of this region.
